Refund policy
Revision IT — Returns & Warranty Policy
Last updated: 12/09/2026
1. Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law
Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.
Nothing in this policy limits or replaces those rights. Where any term of this policy conflicts with the Australian Consumer Law, the Australian Consumer Law prevails to the extent of the inconsistency.
2. Refurbished goods and disclosed condition
All items supplied by Revision IT are used and professionally refurbished, unless the listing states the item is brand new. Whether goods are of acceptable quality is assessed having regard to the nature of the goods, the price paid, any statements made about them, and any other relevant circumstances — including that the goods are second-hand and the condition disclosed at the point of sale.
Each listing discloses the make, model and specification; a cosmetic condition grade of A, B or C as defined in our Grading Guide; a plain-English description of the visible wear present; photographs of the actual unit offered for sale; tested battery health as a percentage where a battery is fitted; and Windows 11 hardware eligibility.
By completing your purchase you acknowledge that you have reviewed the disclosed condition of your specific unit, and that cosmetic wear, marks, scratches, minor imperfections and reduced battery capacity consistent with the stated grade, the listing description and the disclosed battery health are expected characteristics of that unit and do not constitute a defect.
3. Our 3-month warranty
Every item we sell carries a 3-month Revision IT warranty, running from the date the goods are delivered to you. This warranty applies to all products in our catalogue — laptops, docking stations, accessories and printer supplies alike.
This warranty is a voluntary warranty given in addition to the consumer guarantees described in section 1. It does not limit, exclude or replace those guarantees, and it does not shorten any remedy period available to you under the Australian Consumer Law. Where the Australian Consumer Law gives you a longer or broader remedy than this warranty, you may rely on the Australian Consumer Law instead.
What the warranty covers: functional failure of the unit arising in normal use — for example a component that stops working, a port that fails, or a unit that no longer powers on. Where a valid claim is made within the warranty period we will, at our election, repair the unit, replace it with an equivalent unit, or refund it.
What the warranty does not cover:
- Cosmetic wear, marks and scratches consistent with the condition grade disclosed at the point of sale.
- Battery capacity consistent with the battery health disclosed at the point of sale. Batteries are consumable items and lose capacity with use.
- Accidental damage, liquid damage, drops, impact, power surges, or damage caused by unsuitable power supplies.
- Misuse, neglect, or use outside the manufacturer's intended operating conditions.
- Damage or failure caused by repair, disassembly, part substitution or modification carried out by anyone other than Revision IT or a repairer we authorise.
- Software, operating system, driver, licensing or configuration issues, and any consequence of software you have installed.
- Consumable depletion — for example toner or ink reaching end of yield through normal printing.
- Loss of data. See section 6.
The warranty is offered to the original purchaser and is not transferable on resale. Where a unit is repaired or replaced under this warranty, the balance of the original 3-month period continues to apply — a repair or replacement does not restart it.
To make a warranty claim, follow the process in section 8. Warranty claims are subject to the same assessment and diagnostic testing described in section 5.
4. Change of mind returns — discretionary
Revision IT is under no legal obligation to accept a return where you have simply changed your mind. We offer a discretionary 30-day change of mind window as a goodwill measure, subject to the following conditions, each of which must be satisfied in full:
- You request a Return Authorisation (RA) number within 30 days of delivery. Unauthorised returns may be refused and returned to sender at your cost.
- The unit is returned complete — device, charger, cables, adapters, and all supplied accessories.
- The unit is returned in materially the same condition as delivered, with no additional wear, marks, damage, missing components or substituted parts.
- You bear return freight, and are responsible for adequate packaging and insurance. Loss or damage in return transit is your risk.
- Refunds are issued to the original payment method, less original outbound shipping and less a restocking fee of 10% to cover re-testing, re-imaging and re-certification for resale.
Excluded from change of mind returns at our sole discretion: custom or made-to-order builds, bulk and volume orders, clearance and "as-is" items, opened software or digital licences, consumables, and any unit that has had its storage removed, replaced or encrypted by you.
Where a returned unit arrives with additional damage, missing components or in a condition materially worse than dispatched, we may reduce the refund to reflect the diminution in value, or decline the return and re-ship the unit to you at your cost. That assessment is ours to make, acting reasonably.
We reserve the right to decline change of mind returns where we identify a pattern of serial or excessive returns on an account.
5. Faulty or not-as-described goods
Contact revisionit1@gmail.com with your order number, a description of the issue, and photographic or video evidence where relevant.
All units returned under this section are subject to assessment and diagnostic testing on receipt. We aim to complete assessment within 5 business days.
- Minor failure: we will repair the unit, or at our election replace it or refund it. That election is ours, as permitted under the Australian Consumer Law.
- Major failure: you may elect a refund or a replacement, or keep the unit and claim compensation for the reduction in its value. That election is yours.
A failure is major where the goods are substantially unfit for their normal purpose and cannot easily be remedied within a reasonable time, depart significantly from their description, or are unsafe.
Revision IT funds return freight on confirmed defects. Where assessment returns a no-fault-found (NFF) result, or the reported issue is cosmetic wear or battery capacity disclosed at the point of sale, or the fault is attributable to your own installation, modification or misuse, we may return the unit at your cost and invoice a diagnostic fee of $45, notified to you before it is charged.
6. Data
Backup is your responsibility. Units received by Revision IT for assessment, repair, replacement or refund may be wiped, re-imaged, or have storage media replaced or destroyed. We accept no liability for loss of data, software, licences, credentials or configurations. Remove all personal accounts and disable device locks, activation locks and BIOS passwords before return. Units received with an active lock we cannot clear will be returned unassessed.
7. Business, education and volume purchases
The consumer guarantees apply to goods under $100,000 regardless of whether the purchaser is an individual, a school or a business. They do not apply where goods are acquired for the purpose of re-supply, or for use up or transformation in a business of manufacture or repair. Resellers must contact us for separate commercial terms.
8. Process
Email revisionit1@gmail.com with your order number and reason. We respond within 2 business days with an RA number and return instructions. Do not dispatch anything before you hold an RA number.
