Every machine we sell is used. Rather than hide that, we grade it. The grade tells you exactly how the unit looks — nothing more, nothing less.
Everything currently in stock is Grade A — working exceptionally, with minimal cosmetic defects.
The grade describes cosmetic condition only. It says nothing about how the machine performs. Every unit we sell, at every grade, is fully tested, wiped, reinstalled with genuine licensed Windows, and covered by our 3-month warranty against defects. A Grade C machine is not a worse computer than a Grade A machine. It is the same computer with more marks on the outside, for less money.
Grade A — As new
Hard to tell from new at normal viewing distance. This is our entire current stock.
- No visible scratches, scuffs, dents or discolouration on the lid, base or palm rest
- Screen free of scratches, pressure marks and dead pixels
- Keys and trackpad show no shine or wear
- All ports, hinges and latches tight and undamaged
Grade B — Light wear
Clearly used, but tidy.
- Light surface scratches or scuffing on the lid or base, visible up close
- Possible minor shine on the most-used keys or the palm rest
- Screen free of scratches and dead pixels; no marks that affect viewing
- No cracks, no missing parts, hinges firm
Grade C — Visible wear
Cosmetically marked. Functionally sound. The cheapest way into a good machine.
- Noticeable scratches, scuffs, dents or discolouration on the casing
- Worn or faded key lettering, visible shine on the palm rest
- Screen may carry light marks that do not obstruct normal use; any dead pixels are stated in the listing
- Casing may show a small crack or chip that does not affect structure or function — always described
What we never sell, at any grade
Regardless of grade, a unit does not go on the site if it has:
- a cracked screen or dead pixels that are not disclosed in the listing;
- a fault in any component, or a port that does not work;
- missing keys, a loose hinge, or a housing that does not close properly;
- liquid damage or corrosion;
- an unresolved activation lock, BIOS password or firmware lock.

How we apply the grade
Every unit is graded individually by hand. Where a unit sits on the line between two grades, we assign the lower grade. Cosmetic condition described in a listing always takes precedence over the general definitions on this page.
Grades and returns
Cosmetic wear consistent with the stated grade and disclosed in the listing is an expected characteristic of the unit, not a defect. Wear beyond the stated grade, or damage not disclosed at the point of sale, is a different matter entirely — contact us and we will sort it out under our Returns Policy.
